Tobogganer crashes into tree, brother hears cries for help

A terrible tobogganing accident occurred on Friday evening not only in the Tyrolean Außerfern, but also in the district of Kufstein. A German (52) left the track and crashed into a tree with full force. The man suffered several broken bones. He was heard and discovered by his brother.

The serious accident occurred at around 8.45 pm on a toboggan run on the Schneeberg in Thiersee. In a left-hand bend, the man from Upper Bavaria went over the edge of the track and crashed into a tree with full force about three meters below the track.

Brother alerted the emergency services
"The brother, who also followed a little later on a toboggan and could hear the 52-year-old's cries for help, immediately set the rescue chain in motion," reported the police on Saturday.

Several fractures sustained
The seriously injured man was rescued by the mountain rescue team, brought down to the valley and then taken to Kufstein Hospital by ambulance. He is believed to have sustained several broken bones in the accident.

In addition to the mountain rescue team, ambulance, emergency doctor and police, the volunteer fire department was also deployed.

Around half an hour earlier, a serious tobogganing accident had already occurred in Ehrwald. Several German holidaymakers had gotten in each other's way. A teenager (17) suffered a femur fracture and a 22-year-old woman from Germany sustained injuries to her collarbone.
