More and more disabled ID cards are being forged

More and more scams are being perpetrated in Neunkirchen with forged or misused disability ID cards (so-called §29b StvO ID cards). This year, 15 of these forgeries or copies have already been confiscated.

The municipal police check this during their daily routine checks. "You can recognize a forgery, for example, by the intensity of the colour or you can see it on the edge, how the ID card has been cut out," says the city police. One particularly amateurish attempt at forgery was the one in which the wheelchair was pointing in the wrong direction. 

But not only forgeries are in circulation. People often simply use the ID cards of other family members. Or - particularly macabre: "Some people keep the ID cards of people who have already died," says a city police officer. And this is no trivial offense: the penalty ranges from a simple administrative fine to up to one year's imprisonment for forgery.
