Khalil Haqqani, the refugee minister of the Taliban leadership in Afghanistan, has been killed in an attack, according to information from circles of the ruling Islamists. 

One or more assassins are said to have triggered an explosion on the grounds of the refugee ministry in Kabul, killing the minister and other people. The secret service in neighboring Pakistan spoke of a suspected bomb attack.

High reward offered
Khalil Haqqani is part of the Haqqani network, which is classified as a terrorist organization by the USA. The network is said to be behind numerous bloody attacks against the former republic, which was supported by international troops at the time and in which US citizens were also killed. The USA has offered a reward of five million dollars for information about him.

Khalil Haqqani is also the uncle of the Taliban Interior Minister and head of the Haqani network, Sirajuddin Haqqani, on whom the USA has offered a bounty of ten million dollars (9.50 million euros).(Bild: AFP)

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Since the Taliban retook power in August 2021, most attacks in Afghanistan have been carried out by the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia, which is hostile to the Taliban.
