Addicted to medication: Thieves tracked down

A 37-year-old woman was caught red-handed rummaging through drawers in a doctor's surgery in the middle of the night. The alleged accomplice, a 42-year-old woman from Salzburg, was tracked down using a cell phone video from a witness. Hundreds of packs of medication were found on her person...

The theft took place in the Salzburg district of Liefering on Friday night (November 30). Two Salzburg women (37 and 42 years old) are accused of breaking into a doctor's surgery at around 2am. An attentive witness immediately called the police.

Thanks to the rapid intervention of the police, the patrol was able to catch the 37-year-old woman in the act behind a smashed window pane. She was rummaging through drawers and was then arrested without resistance. A cell phone video from the witness also revealed a getaway vehicle.

After an intensive search, the car with the 42-year-old driver was stopped shortly afterwards. Several hundred packs of medication were seized in the vehicle. She was also arrested. Both confessed to the crime and cited their drug addiction as the motive. By order of the public prosecutor's office, the 37-year-old was transferred to Salzburg prison. The 42-year-old will be charged at large.
