Daniel Huber will miss the ski jumping World Cup opener in Lillehammer (Nor). The Seekirchen native felt pain in his right knee after the first two sessions on snow on Wednesday. He is therefore traveling back to Austria.

"I hope that it's not too serious and that it might be possible to get back on the hill quickly with short treatment therapies," Huber is quoted as saying in a press release.

Although he did not fall during training, it was decided that there was no point in competing. The 31-year-old will therefore travel to Austria on Thursday for further clarification. "Of course it hurts now, because I've been training hard all summer to be in top form at the start and that's not possible now. But I hope that the examinations will be positive and then we'll see how we have to react," says Huber.

Head coach Andreas Widhölzl has included Maximilian Ortner in the squad in his place. The 22-year-old from Carinthia has recommended himself for the subsequent nomination thanks to his recent strong training performances.
