Austria Wien binds key player until 2028

Johannes Handl has prematurely extended his contract with Bundesliga club Austria Wien by a further two years until the summer of 2028. 

The third-placed team announced the news on Wednesday. The 26-year-old central defender tore a collateral ligament in his knee at the beginning of July and has therefore not yet played a competitive match this season. Last Friday, however, he made his comeback in the 3:1 win in the test against Traiskirchen.

"My full focus is now on the final games of the year and I can't wait to get back on the pitch with the team and play in front of our fans," said Handl, who has been with the team since July 2019.
