Brutal attack: helper (44) also becomes a victim

A 21-year-old man was seriously injured by unknown assailants in Vienna-Penzing on Saturday. A 44-year-old witness stated that the victim had been attacked with punches. When he intervened in the altercation, he was also injured by the two men.

After the 44-year-old managed to escape after the violent attack, he immediately called the emergency services. The man waited for the police to arrive and they found the 21-year-old, who had been chased and attacked by the strangers, in a nearby train station. The young man had serious injuries and a sharp object is suspected to be the murder weapon.

Search unsuccessful so far
The Vienna Professional Rescue Service provided emergency medical care to the 21-year-old, who was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 44-year-old was also taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment. A search for the perpetrators has so far been unsuccessful and the Vienna State Criminal Police Office has taken over the further investigation.
