Mathea has reported from hospital with a photo and unusually open words. The singer suffers from endometriosis and had to have an operation.

She actually "prefers to keep such topics private", Mathea explained in her message to fans. But in this case, she felt it was very important to talk about her health problems "because I know how many people suffer from it but think it's normal".

Mathea was "not taken seriously"
There is "far too little talk about endometriosis", the singer continued in her message. It is far from normal to have "such severe period pain" that you "can no longer stand up".

She had doubted herself for a long time and thought she was simply "more snivelling than others". She also said that she was "not taken seriously by many gynecologists".

But now she is finally hoping for improvement, because: "I had an operation yesterday and the endometriosis lesions were removed." Mathea concluded by appealing to her fans to trust themselves and their bodies and to consult experts on the subject.

Endometriosis is a common, benign chronic disease in women. Those affected mainly complain of severe pain before and during menstruation.
