Drunk driver left a trail of destruction through the district

A driver from Linz (38) left a trail of destruction through the Kleinmünchen district on Friday evening, damaging five cars and a traffic sign. The police finally found the 38-year-old asleep at a petrol station. The breathalyzer showed 1.66 per mille.

"Property damage accident with hit-and-run" - this is how a Linz police patrol was alerted at around 6.30 p.m. on Friday in Wiener Straße and Dauphinestraße. During the investigation, the police received more and more tips: a car was driving on rims in the provincial capital and was constantly causing accidents.

Rescue found sleeping driver
The police later found the vehicle they were looking for. The car had been parked in front of an apartment building and had been badly damaged. The driver - a 38-year-old man from Linz - was finally discovered by the ambulance service. The man was sleeping at a petrol station and was taken home by the paramedics.

A breathalyzer test on the driver showed 1.66 per mille. He has lost his driver's license for the time being.

Route reconstructed
In retrospect, a large part of the route that the 38-year-old had traveled while intoxicated could be reconstructed. According to the police, the man from Linz had been driving all over the Kleinmünchen district and had damaged five cars and a traffic sign in the process.
