Infineon milestones with Villach signature

Semiconductor group Infineon is also struggling with weak demand. Sales figures for 2024 are falling, with only artificial intelligence promising growth impetus. And with strong help from Villach, Infineon has achieved two technological milestones that are good for business. 

The semiconductor group Infineon is struggling with weak demand. Turnover is set to fall again this year, having already dropped by 1.3 billion euros in the past financial year and landed at just under 15 billion euros. "With the exception of artificial intelligence, our end markets currently offer hardly any growth impetus," says CEO Jochen Hanebeck.

Infineon has produced two technological milestones with strong support from Villach. The gallium nitride Power 300 millimeter wafers are power suppliers for AI systems, solar inverters, chargers and adapters as well as motor control systems. The thinnest silicon wafer at 20 micrometers - thinner than a quarter of a human hair - will also help to significantly increase energy efficiency and power supply solutions for AI data centers and consumer applications.
