Sexual assault? Ex-Bayern star under suspicion

Arturo Vidal is facing a serious allegation in Chile: the soccer star is accused of sexual assault!

The investigation was initiated following a complaint against the former Bayern professional and teammates of his current Chilean club Colo Colo. This was announced by the public prosecutor's office in Santiago on Monday. So far, no one has been arrested. It is not clear which of Vidal's teammates are also affected by the investigation.

According to Chilean media, the assault is said to have taken place in the early hours of Monday morning in a nightclub in Santiago. A group of Colo Colo players had been celebrating a birthday there. Police chief Gerardo Aravena said that 37-year-old Vidal had been taken to a police station to establish his identity.

Vidal played for Bayer Leverkusen from 2007 to 2011 and then moved to Juventus Turin. From there, he moved to Bayern Munich in 2015 for a transfer fee of almost 40 million euros. Vidal played for Bayern for three years. His later clubs included FC Barcelona and Inter Milan. Vidal scored 34 goals in 142 games for the Chilean national team.
