Stairwells: What annoys you the most?

Living in residential complexes can sometimes be stressful. Especially when it comes to the use of communal areas such as inner courtyards and stairwells, different worlds often collide. Even if there are fixed rules, these are not always adhered to and then shoes or garbage pile up in the corridor. What have you experienced in this regard and how do you deal with such situations?
