Rain-soaked highway: cars crash into crash barrier

Two people injured, two ambulance journeys to Villach Regional Hospital, four fire departments, police and highway accident service on duty: on October 10, two drivers skidded on the rain-soaked road on the Südautobahn.

On Thursday afternoon, October 10, the car of a woman from Klagenfurt (55) skidded several times against the central crash barrier on the Südautobahn near Velden and finally came to rest on the driver's side. Drivers following behind helped the woman out of the wreck. The ambulance took the injured woman to Villach Regional Hospital.

The Wernberg and Velden fire departments were deployed alongside the police, Asfinag accident service and Red Cross. 

A few hours later on Thursday, the car of a 22-year-old man from the Villach-Land district hit the central reservation near Schütt. This driver was also rescued by a following driver and taken to Villach Regional Hospital by the ambulance service.

About 50 meters of the guardrail were damaged.

Officers from the Villach highway police, the Asfinag accident service, the Gödersdorf fire department and the Villach main fire station were deployed.
