Gold for Rettenegger, double silver for Salzburg

The national championships in Eisenerz were a great success for the Salzburg participants. After gold in ski jumping for Lisa Eder, there were the next podium places to celebrate in the men's and Nordic combined events.

In the combined event, Stefan Rettenegger from Pongau, the overall World Cup runner-up from last winter season, came out on top on the normal hill ahead of Franz Joseph Rehrl (ST) and Manuel Einkemmer (T). Meanwhile, Claudia Purker took silver in the women's event, as did her club colleague Jan Hörl from SC Bischofshofen in the men's event.

Rettenegger said afterwards: "The road was quite slippery, it wasn't an easy race. But in the end I had a good feeling and was able to save a few grains for the end. It's really cool that I've finally won my first Austrian title in the big races!"

The competitions on the large hill in Bischofshofen continue on Sunday, with the women only taking part in the special jump and only the men competing in the combined.
