Another bomb threat: Klagenfurt school

On Wednesday morning, October 9, the Hasner School in Klagenfurt had to be evacuated: Once again there had been a bomb threat by email!

The police had received the threat by e-mail. The school was evacuated immediately - almost 400 young people and their teachers had to leave the building. The building was searched for dangerous objects and an explosive device. All-clear!

It was only on Wednesday evening that the Feldkirchen train station was evacuated and searched as a precautionary measure, as a bomb threat had been received for the Feldkirch train station in Vorarlberg. The Vorarlberg police informed their Carinthian colleagues as a precaution: The perpetrator could have mixed up the two locations...

Almost every day, train stations and schools in Austria have to be evacuated and searched by police officers and dogs trained to detect explosives. So far, no bombs have been discovered anywhere. Fortunately! Because: The bomb threat against the two Innsbruck train stations, which was received by the provincial police headquarters by e-mail on Thursday afternoon, was simply "overlooked".

Severe penalties
The bomb-threat perpetrator, whose call in 2016 triggered the evacuation of the Klagenfurt City Theatre during the premiere of "Butterfly" - 600 visitors and numerous employees had to be evacuated to safety - was sentenced to 15 months in court, five of which were mandatory.

Up to three years imprisonment is possible for this offense. The perpetrators must also pay the costs of the operation.
