Search operation leads to Tyrolean man killed in crash

Concerned relatives launched a large-scale search operation for a 37-year-old man who was traveling by car on Saturday night. Unfortunately, a sad discovery was made in the morning hours.

On Friday evening, the 37-year-old local man intended to drive his car down the valley from a hunter's lodge in Pfunds. For reasons as yet unknown, the car went over the edge of the road and plunged some 150 meters over steep terrain.

Relatives raised the alarm
As the man was not with his relatives at the agreed time, a large-scale search operation was launched by the Pfunds and Ried fire departments, the mountain rescue service and the police.

At around 6.40 a.m. on Saturday morning, the vehicle was found lying on its roof in the bed of a stream. A short time later, the casualty, who had presumably been thrown out of the vehicle, was also found in the area of the crash track. The emergency doctor who was called could only determine that the local man had died.
