Fraudsters abuse Hochmair for money scam

"Thank you for your love and support", reads the content of a personal Instagram message. Sender: Philipp Hochmair.  

Fans' hearts are probably beating so fast at this moment that many don't realize that the message is not from the real Philipp Hochmair! A fake profile has assumed the identity of the popular actor and is trying to take money out of his fans' pockets!

While the personal messages start out pompously on Instagram, the scammers quickly switch to the encrypted messaging service Telegram. There, fans of the fake Hochmair are urgently asked to help, see the chat histories shown.

The fraudsters demand voucher cards and subsequently their activation codes. Anyone who complies with these demands loses their money!

The police advise: Be skeptical and do not allow yourself to be put under pressure. Breaking off contact and reporting the fake profile are also recommended.
