After hit-and-run: Styrian (27) tracked down

A 27-year-old man from eastern Styria has now been tracked down by the police after fleeing from a collision with a female moped rider on September 5.

The accident happened on the evening of September 5 in Nestelbach: when turning, a car driver hit a moped in front of him. The 15-year-old driver and her passenger (14) crashed and both young people were injured. The driver simply sped off. The decisive tip-off for catching the fleeing driver came from a jogger.

The man stated that he was walking a few kilometers from the scene of the accident at the time and noticed a speeding car. He was able to remember parts of the license plate number. Investigations and checks on various vehicles finally led the police to a 27-year-old man from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district.

The man involved in the accident confessed. He cited debts and being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident as the reason for his hit-and-run. The man will now be charged with suspected negligent bodily harm and hit-and-run.
