Wife of fallen rock hunter raised the alarm

On Saturday afternoon, a 43-year-old man from Salzburg fell into a crevasse in the Hohe Riffl area in Uttendorf at 2,800 meters above sea level. He called his wife on his cell phone, who launched a major search operation.

Because the local man was stuck in a crevasse covered by scree, he was unable to free himself. Fortunately, the 43-year-old was able to contact his wife by cell phone, who was not involved in the stone search.

She alerted the police. The accident site was narrowed down via the Red Cross control center. The first members of the "Enzingerboden" mountain rescue team were flown to the scene of the accident by the emergency helicopter.

Further emergency services were brought in by police helicopter. The man was rescued and flown to the Tauernklinikum in Zell with indeterminate injuries.
