Son steered the vehicle from the passenger seat

With his son in the passenger seat, a 61-year-old man was driving on the Friesach main road towards Neumarkt on Wednesday. Suddenly, the driver lost consciousness due to a medical emergency and thus lost control of his vehicle. His son reacted at the right moment. 

Due to a medical emergency, a 61-year-old Styrian lost consciousness while driving. As the vehicle was traveling at around 100 km/h, his son reacted immediately and grabbed the steering wheel.

In order to reduce the speed, the 18-year-old pulled on his father's foot, who unconsciously pressed the accelerator pedal. When he then succeeded in doing so, he steered the car to the right over an embankment onto a side road. The vehicle only came to a standstill after 100 meters. 

Fortunately, neither man was injured. After first aid, the 61-year-old was taken to Klagenfurt Hospital by the ambulance.
