Five-year-old dies after swimming accident in Graz

Bathers had discovered the boy lifeless in the non-swimmer's pool at the Margarethenbad in Graz and resuscitated him with a doctor present. It has now been announced that the five-year-old lost the fight for his life.

The tragedy occurred on Saturday, August 24. When the five-year-old was admitted to the children's hospital, he was in his twilight years. According to the police, however, the child's state of health was stable.

In the middle of the previous week, the five-year-old died as a result of the swimming accident, as confirmed by the hospital on Monday.

Course of the accident still unclear
Hansjörg Bacher, spokesman for the public prosecutor's office in Graz, said that investigations are still being carried out into the circumstances of the five-year-old's death. Proceedings are currently being conducted against unknown perpetrators because the facts of the case still need to be clarified. An autopsy has also been commissioned.
