Biker collides with car on A 2: seriously injured

Serious traffic accident Sunday afternoon on the A 2 Südautobahn near Ilz: For unknown reasons, a motorcyclist (49) collided with a car and crashed. The seriously injured biker was flown to hospital by helicopter. The highway was closed for a good hour.

Around midday on Sunday, a group of five motorcyclists were traveling on the A2 motorway from Vienna towards Graz. Near Ilz (Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district), one of the bikers collided sideways with a car driven by a 34-year-old Slovakian. According to the police, it is not yet clear why. 

Freeway closure: eight kilometers of traffic jam 
The 49-year-old Pole crashed as a result of the collision and was seriously injured. He was flown to Graz Regional Hospital by a rescue helicopter. The freeway in the direction of Graz had to be closed for a good hour and an eight-kilometer-long traffic jam formed.
