“Bolt crash”: Witness leads police to the driver

After a metal bolt smashed through the windshield of a 20-year-old car driver, the police appealed for help by calling witnesses. A man actually contacted the police in Kaprun by telephone because he was able to establish a connection between his purchase and the "bolt crash" through media reports.

On Wednesday, a flying metal bolt pierced the windshield of a 20-year-old man from Pinzgau on the Mittersill main road. The driver was injured in the face and caused an accident.

Also on Wednesday, but in the afternoon, a man is said to have asked for a metal bolt for his truck in a store in Eugendorf. He had lost it. What was not surprising for an attentive witness at the time of the incident later turned out to be an important clue. After the numerous reports about the mysterious metal bolt, the man became suspicious. He called the police in Kaprun and reported his observation. 

The police were then able to trace a Croatian citizen via the registration company who had been driving the truck on this section of road at the time of the accident. Further investigations are now pending. 

The bolt is said to have come loose from an oncoming truck, probably orange in color and with a crane body. The accident victim was unable to reveal any more. The driver of the truck had disappeared. Thanks to the witness, the driver has now been identified.
