A curious incident on the Westautobahn: near Allhaming on Wednesday, police came across a young man sitting cross-legged in the emergency lane. When asked what he was doing here, the man from Salzburg replied to the officers: "My girlfriend abandoned me."

The couple had previously been traveling from Salzburg towards Vienna. During the journey, the young love probably turned into an argument - which is why she stopped and left him standing, or rather sitting, on the hard shoulder in the middle of the Westautobahn.

Fortunately, the dangerous action, which could have ended badly, did not result in an accident. There were no injuries - except probably two broken love hearts ...

"Love fades, friendship endures"
After the police patrol had picked up the Salzburg man sitting in the breakdown lane and taken him off the highway, he was picked up by a friend and taken back to the city of Mozart.

The Upper Austrian police themselves took the bizarre incident with humor and posted on social networks: "Love fades, friendship endures!"
