Thanks to a witness: the police caught a bicycle thief

A bicycle thief in Innsbruck was quickly tracked down on Tuesday: the initially unknown perpetrator had broken the lock and then fled with the bike. A witness immediately raised the alarm - a short time later the suspect was caught by the police.

The scene of the theft was Franz-Werner-Straße in the Mühlau-Arzl industrial estate. At around 4.40 p.m., a witness saw an unknown man break the lock on a bicycle parked there and then ride off on the bike.

Romanian (27) arrested
"The woman immediately called the police. Following further information, a suspect, a 27-year-old Romanian, was finally stopped by a patrol in the course of the manhunt in Richard-Berger-Straße and provisionally arrested," said the investigators.

The previously stolen bike was seized by the officers. After being questioned, the man was released.
