A construction company in Krems received an uninvited visit from a dismissed employee. Together with a friend, he gained access to the office building and stole a cell phone from a common room. "I would have hoped for a better haul," the 48-year-old confessed a little later when questioned.

"Only knew the area"
It didn't take long for the police to track down the former employee. His ex-boss had already expressed this suspicion when he filed the complaint. But revenge for the dismissal had not led the man to his old place of work. He had merely come up with the idea of breaking in somewhere while drunk. He had only chosen the area because he knew it.

Search for petrol station burglar
The search is still on for the burglar who broke into a petrol station in Krems on Tuesday through a window and stole 7,000 euros from the cash register.
