Swerving ended fatally
In the course of the work, the 71-year-old wanted to allow a family of holidaymakers to pass by unhindered at around 2 p.m. and stepped off the paved path.

Fall of 55 meters
The man lost his footing and fell about 55 meters, rolling over several times, as the investigation revealed. His two companions were able to observe the incident and called the emergency services. After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, the seriously injured man was rescued using a rope and flown to Innsbruck Hospital.
