Return journey chaos caused a 20-kilometer traffic jam

Drivers needed nerves of steel and a lot of patience on their return journey from their summer vacation on Sunday. There were traffic jams on the Tauernautobahn in the direction of Germany, some of them 20 kilometers long. 

The police activated the block clearance before the Werfen tunnel chain shortly before 10 a.m. due to the heavy return traffic. A traffic jam several kilometers long quickly formed in front of the Helbergtunnel. The delay amounted to almost two hours. There was also a traffic jam in front of the Walserberg border crossing. 

There were also delays around the A10 exit Salzburg-Süd.
