Hittisau not allowed to play Cup after all

FC Hittisau were actually supposed to play Dornbirner SV at home in the second round of the VFV Cup on Wednesday evening. However, the coaching duel between Thiago de Lima Silva and Roman Ellensohn did not take place.

Instead, Hittisau are out of the cup competition, with the Haselstauders playing at SPG Mellau 1c.

The reason: In round one last weekend, Dornbirner SV played at Hittisau 1b and won 9:0. The Wälder team also included Julius Fink (90 minutes) and Joel de Lima Silva (45), the son of Eins coach Thiago. Two 16-year-old youngsters. A day later, the two were substituted for the first team against SPG Mellau 1b at half-time. Which is not permitted according to current association rules.

A protest was lodged and Hittisau's match in Mellau was penalized. "We at the club were of the opinion that they were allowed to play because they were youth players. Now, of course, everyone is very disappointed," explains Thiago. "But I don't quite understand it. These are two very young players who can't influence a match. I think DSV were a bit scared of us."
