Enterococci are still rampant in the Sattnitz in Klagenfurt. Although the levels have already decreased, the city of Klagenfurt still warns against jumping into the water.

Diarrhea, urinary tract infections and other unpleasant side effects - this is what enterococci can cause. These bacteria are at home in the intestines of humans and animals. And now increasingly also in the Sattnitz. "Bathing is currently not recommended at the confluence of the Rekabach and the Volksbad St. Ruprecht", the city announced this week.

Due to the high temperatures, bacteria had proliferated there, causing the limit values to be significantly exceeded.

Values no longer so high
The all-clear cannot yet be given for the weekend. "Close-meshed samples are currently being taken at six locations along the Sattnitz. The limit values are no longer exceeded, but the guideline values are still slightly exceeded."

The city has therefore only issued a cautious all-clear, and "for safety reasons, the recommendation is still not to swim at both locations".

Samples are to be taken again on Monday and the results are expected on Wednesday.
