Entire house burnt down with schnitzel in deep fryer

Nobody had expected this: A father (56) wanted to cook schnitzel in a new deep-fat fryer in St. Wolfgang. But that failed, instead the whole wooden house was torched.

A 56-year-old man from St. Wolfgang, his 26-year-old daughter-in-law and his 28-year-old daughter and their children wanted to prepare schnitzel in a new deep fryer in the 56-year-old's apartment building on July 31, 2024 at around 12.50 pm. For this purpose, the appliance, which was located in the pantry on the 1st floor, was switched on by the 28-year-old. When she checked shortly afterwards, flames were already coming out of the deep fryer.

Father was still trying to extinguish the fire
There was already a lot of smoke. The 56-year-old tried to extinguish the fire with a 6-liter powder extinguisher, but when he entered the pantry, he discovered that it was fully engulfed in flames. The people present then fled, and by the time the fire department arrived, the fire had spread to the second floor and the roof truss.

The house was made of wood
The property was largely a house made of wood. In total, around 165 members of the volunteer fire department with 32 vehicles were deployed. The fire was only declared out by the incident commander at around 5.30 pm. No persons were injured. The amount of damage could not yet be ascertained.
