Government wants zero pay for top politicians

In the election year of 2024, top politicians will be receiving another round of zero pay for 2025. As in 2023, the turquoise-green government is freezing the salaries of federal politicians for another year. 

Those affected include the Federal President and the entire government team as well as the President of the National Council and the heads of parliamentary clubs. Politicians' salaries are actually linked to the statutory pension adjustment factor based on the average inflation of the last twelve months. This is expected to be between 4.5 and 4.7 percent.

Members of parliament receive half the increase
While top politicians will not receive this increase at all, it is planned that mandataries at federal level (National Council and Federal Council) will receive half the adjustment factor, as was the case last year. The amount of the adjustment at provincial level will be left up to the provinces, as explained by the Turkish-Green government on Tuesday.
