Overlooked when turning: Motorcyclist dead

A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a tractor in Leutschach an der Weinstraße (Leibnitz district) in Styria on Monday evening. The driver of the tractor may have overlooked the man from southern Styria.

At around 5.30 p.m., the motorcyclist was traveling on the L614, the Grenzland-Weinstraße, coming from Leutschach in the direction of the Langegg border crossing. On the long straight stretch, a 41-year-old Slovenian driver with a tractor and trailer came towards him.

Opposite the elementary school, the Slovenian turned into Pößnitzbergstraße with the tractor and probably overlooked the 24-year-old. The motorcyclist collided with the tractor trailer. Unfortunately, the emergency services were unable to help the young man from Leibnitz. He died at the scene of the accident.

His relatives are being looked after by a crisis intervention team. The country road was closed to all traffic until 7.45 pm.
