Landing gear collapsed: small plane smoked heavily

Shock for a local couple on Friday evening in Innsbruck. When landing at the airport in a small plane, there were problems with the landing gear. This was followed by a heavy smoke development during the crash landing. The airport fire department had to be called out.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 pm. The 73-year-old wanted to land the single-engine small plane at Innsbruck Airport. His 68-year-old wife was also on board. "The pilot extended the landing gear, but it collapsed during the landing," said the police.

As a result, the propeller blades and the fuselage of the aircraft grazed the runway. The result was a lot of smoke. Luckily, the couple were uninjured during the crash landing. 

The airport fire department recovered the small aircraft and brought it to the hangar.
