German hiker attacked by cows in Tyrol

Another vacationer in Tyrol was attacked and injured by cows. On Thursday, a 65-year-old German man was hit while hiking in the Außerfern region. The man had to be flown to Reutte Hospital by emergency helicopter.

The 65-year-old German had been hiking in the hiking and grazing area of the Heiterwanger Hochalm on Thursday afternoon when he was suddenly attacked and injured by two cows at around 2.30 pm, the police said on Friday.

The pasture and hiking area is fenced in several times and marked with various signs about grazing cattle.

Such incidents are not uncommon, especially in Tyrol. It was only late Tuesday afternoon that a holidaymaker from the Netherlands was attacked and seriously injured by a cow in Sölden in the Ötztal valley.

According to the police, the 27-year-old wanted to take a photo of the animal when it suddenly stood up and rammed its horn into the woman's leg. The injured woman was flown to Zams hospital by helicopter.
