Berlin: Palestine demonstration broken up, 20 injured

According to police reports, 17 police officers and seven participants were injured during the dispersal of a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Berlin. The demonstration had escalated after banned, anti-Semitic and offensive slogans were shouted.

The demonstration had started in the south-western district of Steglitz in the afternoon and moved towards Innsbrucker Platz. According to the police, a good 600 people took part in the afternoon.

One person seriously injured
The Berlin fire department told the German Press Agency that one person was seriously injured. According to the fire department, several injured people were taken to hospital.

The injured had all reported to the emergency services after the demo had ended. They mostly had circulatory problems and minor injuries. According to a fire department spokesperson, no irritant gas was sprayed.

Weekly demonstrations
In addition to numerous Palestine flags, people at the demonstration held up signs reading "Free Palestine from Israel's Occupation". The demonstration was registered with the title "Stop the Gaza Genocide". 

Since the terrorist attack on Israel by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas on 7 October 2023, there have been weekly demonstrations in Berlin in the context of the Gaza war.
