Accident on a construction site in Vienna cools things down

An annoying mishap on a building site in Vienna's city center near the Votive Church is likely to have put passers-by in a cheerful mood on Friday. During the hot temperatures, an excavator caused a water pipe to burst - which probably provided refreshment. 

The water fountain on Universitätsstraße near the Votive Church was several meters high. This is likely to have cooled down the workers on the construction site as well as passers-by. According to information from a "Krone" reader reporter, a pipe had probably burst beforehand. 

On the video: A desperate worker trying to get the situation under control. However, it is unlikely to have cooled down for long, as the fire department is quickly on the scene in such cases.
