Truck driver died on the emergency lane

A tragic incident took place on the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley highway on Monday morning. Police officers found the motionless body of a 40-year-old Ukrainian man in a truck parked on the hard shoulder - all help came too late for the man.

In the course of an early morning patrol near Dornbirn, a highway police patrol discovered the truck parked in the emergency lane with its hazard warning lights switched on. On looking around, the officers saw the driver sitting motionless in front of the steering wheel.

No sign of life
They were able to gain access to the driver's cab through a half-open window. After the man showed no signs of life, the police immediately began resuscitation measures. These were subsequently continued by the emergency doctor who had rushed to the scene - but unfortunately without success.

Further investigations revealed that the deceased was a 40-year-old Ukrainian. There are no indications that the death was caused by someone else; the police assume that it was a medical emergency. An autopsy was ordered.
