Motorcycle crashes into creek bed: Biker dead!

Tragic traffic accident late Monday afternoon in the Tyrolean Außerfern: A German motorcyclist (71) lost control on the Plansee road and crashed into an adjacent stream bed. The man succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident.

The terrible traffic accident occurred shortly before 5 pm. For reasons still unknown, the 71-year-old biker, who was traveling from Reutte towards Ammerwald with a compatriot (73), left Planseestraße on a long bend and crashed into the bed of the Thorsäulenbach stream next to the L255.

According to the police, the driver from Bavaria was thrown with full force against the adjacent streambed wall.

Fatal head injuries
"Despite immediate resuscitation measures by first responders and the emergency doctor who arrived first, the man died at the scene of the accident," reported the police. He had suffered fatal head injuries. 

Road closed for hours
Planseestraße was closed until the early hours of the evening while the fire department worked to recover the motorcycle. The Reutte volunteer fire department was deployed with three vehicles and 27 emergency personnel, the ambulance service including an emergency doctor and the police.
