Car overturned – drugged driver fled

A passer-by heard a loud bang in the Bergheim area on Thursday evening. She looked around, startled, and saw a car lying in the middle of the road. The vehicle had overturned. The woman noticed that the driver simply ran away from the scene of the accident. She immediately informed the police. 

No further investigation was necessary. The driver contacted the police himself shortly afterwards. He stated that he had run away out of fear - because he had previously drunk alcohol. A breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.48 per mille and a preliminary drug test was positive for THC.
