Car hit by train: Three occupants injured

A 42-year-old driver overlooked the red light at a level crossing in Graz on Tuesday and collided with a train. The driver and two other occupants were slightly injured. The train driver did not notice the accident at first and drove on.

A car driver and his two passengers were probably very lucky on Tuesday afternoon in the Graz district of Straßgang. According to the police, the 42-year-old driver slowed down at the Hafnerstraße/Peter-Leardi-Weg junction because he was dazzled by the sun. 

He probably overlooked the red light at an unrestricted GKB railroad crossing. At that moment, a passenger train crossed the crossing and collided with the car. According to the police, the train driver did not notice the collision and drove on. 

The driver and two passengers were slightly injured, but refused further medical treatment after receiving first aid from the emergency services.
