Driver (80) lands his car on the railroad track

In Mandling, a driver landed his car on the railroad track on Monday. The 80-year-old man was injured in the accident. Train services were interrupted for around an hour.

For reasons as yet unknown, the 80-year-old left the road in his car in Mandling, which belongs to both Radstadt (Pongau) and Schladming (Styria), on Monday morning. The car crossed the oncoming lane and rolled down an adjacent embankment. The car finally came to a standstill on the railroad track.

The man from Schladming suffered injuries of indeterminate severity, but was able to free himself from the car. Train traffic was stopped immediately. After the emergency services arrived, the 80-year-old was taken to the hospital in Schladming by the Red Cross.

The man failed a breathalyzer test. A towing service removed the car from the tracks. Train traffic was blocked for around an hour.
