Final spurt: Curtain up for renovated theater

Wiener Neustadt will soon be celebrating in style. The renovated municipal theater will soon open its doors - exactly 230 years after its official opening.

A "construction site party at the highest level" is how Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner describes the final spurt of the renovation of the Wiener Neustadt Municipal Theater. It is still a construction site, but the grand opening party will take place here from November 8 to 10 - exactly 230 years after the first official opening.

14.5 million euros have been invested: Architect Peter Übersberger has put his heart and soul into this project. His particular pride and joy: a brightly designed foyer with a gallery, predominantly in white. In the auditorium itself, he has kept to the colors of the iron curtain - a work of art by Wolfgang Hutter.

Colourful program
Maria Großbauer, Managing Director of the theater, is already looking forward to well-known names such as Lidia Baich, Ina Regen and Josef Hader. The program will be a colourful mix. In addition to classical and pop music, cabaret and theater productions, there will also be film evenings with classics and theater for children.

A fixed date: Every year on December 5 - the anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's death - the Requiem is performed. And the popular Theater Café will also be back.
