Partnership with Shenzhen: Strengthening sustainability

As part of his delegation trip to China, City Councillor for Economic Affairs Peter Hanke (SPÖ) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the city of Shenzhen. The aim is to intensify the international exchange for companies and start-ups in the areas of green technologies, smart city and digitalization. 

The delegation trip to various Chinese economic centers led by City Councillor for Economic Affairs Peter Hanke culminated this week in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Vienna Business Agency and the city of Shenzhen. The aim is to promote exchange for companies and start-ups in the fields of green technologies and smart city, digitalization and life sciences. 

"Vienna is recognized worldwide as a green, liveable and international metropolis with a highly vibrant and innovative business scene in the climate and environmental sector. The new cooperation with Shenzhen opens a gateway to the Far East for the green technology projects of our Viennese companies and start-ups and will intensify mutual relations and the exchange of knowledge," said Hanke.

The memorandum of understanding concluded between Vienna and Shenzhen is already the third agreement in the last eight months. Similar agreements have already been concluded with Bangkok and Shanghai and underline the strong interest from the Asian region in Vienna as a business location.
