Helicopter flew e-biker to hospital after crash without helmet

A 60-year-old man touched the kerb of the sidewalk with his e-bike in Grein, fell and hit his head on the ground. The rescue helicopter flew the man - who was not wearing a bicycle helmet - to hospital.

The 60-year-old from Mühlviertel was riding his e-bike in Grein on Thursday evening. According to the police, he touched the kerb of the sidewalk and fell. Because he was not wearing a helmet, he hit the ground with his bare head.

The rescue helicopter "Christophorus 15" flew him to the regional hospital in Amstetten after first aid.

E-bike versus racing bike
Just a few hours earlier, there had been a serious cycling accident in Kremsmünster. An 82-year-old man on his e-bike and a 46-year-old man on a racing bike collided with each other. The e-biker suffered serious injuries as a result, while the younger of the two cyclists escaped with minor injuries.
