Slippery online fun proved expensive for Carinthian man

First via social media, then via a messenger app, an unknown perpetrator gained the trust of a 35-year-old man from the district of St. Veit. He persuaded the man to take part in a spicy video chat.

When a good-looking woman contacted a 35-year-old man via social media, he was probably immediately hooked. The communication continued via a messenger app. "In the course of the conversation, the perpetrator persuaded the man to perform sexual acts in front of a video camera," explained the police.

When the 35-year-old complied with the request, the tide suddenly turned. "The stranger then claimed to have recorded this video and demanded several thousand euros from the victim," said the police. The perpetrator then threatened to publish the juicy footage.

The victim then transferred a low four-figure sum, but when the perpetrator demanded further transfers, the man pressed charges.
