Girl (11) floated motionless in sports pool

Dramatic swimming accident on Tuesday morning at Sonnentherme Lutzmannsburg in Burgenland: an eleven-year-old girl floated motionless in the water. The schoolgirl, who was in the pool with her class, was airlifted to hospital.

A woman from Lower Austria, who was in the baths with her family, noticed the girl floating motionless in the sports pool in the outdoor area of the thermal baths. She reacted immediately, pulled the child out of the water, provided first aid and set the rescue chain in motion.

Flown to hospital by helicopter
After receiving first aid from the emergency doctor, the girl from the district of Baden was transferred to the Wiener Neustadt Regional Hospital by the Christophorus 16 rescue helicopter.

The eleven-year-old regained consciousness after the initial measures. However, it has not yet been possible to question her about the incident. The police investigation is ongoing.
