Missing Mongolian found dead on Mount Everest

The body of a missing Mongolian man (53) was found on Mount Everest on Friday. His compatriot (31), with whom he was traveling on the world's highest mountain, is still missing.

The duo had no local mountain guide. They had only booked oxygen bottles and support from the base camp from the expedition company. According to the expedition company, the last time they were in contact with the two men was on Sunday evening, when they were on their ascent.

On Friday, a spokesperson for the Nepalese tourism authority announced that the body of one of the men had been found. It had been near the 8849 meter high summit. The 31-year-old compatriot of the deceased is still missing.

Bad weather delayed search operation
In spring, a particularly large number of people attempt to climb the huge mountain in the Himalayas. This is when the conditions are usually at their best. However, the search operation for the two missing people was delayed for several days due to bad weather. For this year's peak season, 419 mountaineers have been issued with permits to climb Mount Everest.
