Frustration remains despite new road in Guntschach

After 17 months, the road to Guntschach has been reopened to traffic. But the events of the past few months have left the residents of the small Carinthian village feeling frustrated. They felt too let down. A local inspection.

It has been 519 days full of hope, frustration and annoyance for the residents of Guntschach. After all, the catastrophic rockslide in December 2022 changed their lives dramatically: cut off from the outside world, reliant on a ferry and ultimately forced to move out for the most part.

You would think that Friday would be a day of joy for the inhabitants of the small village: Because after several months of construction, the road could be opened for a few hours. But no such luck.
