Medical studies from fall in Wiener Neustadt

Danube Private University Krems has now received approval for the Master's degree course in Human Medicine. However, this will not be held in Krems, but in Wiener Neustadt.

In Wiener Neustadt, prospective doctors will be able to study for a Master's in Human Medicine at Danube Private University (DPU) Krems from the fall. Re-admission to the course in 2021 had been denied due to significant shortcomings in the curriculum. The DPU lodged an appeal.

The Master's degree course has now been accredited. However, it will not be held in Krems, but in Wiener Neustadt. Thanks to the accreditation, the DPU is now the second university in the country to offer a full medical degree course. Previously, this was only available at the Karl Landsteiner Private University in Krems.

The DPU will ensure that doctors are trained for Lower Austria and that young people from our towns and communities can take on responsibility for us and our medical care.

"Going our own way in training is a central component in counteracting the shortage of doctors and ensuring the best possible medical care in our province in the long term," explained Ludwig Schleritzko (ÖVP), the provincial councillor responsible for the clinics.

Lower Austrian scholarship for human medicine
Applications for the Lower Austria Scholarship are still open until the end of May. According to Wagner, "many, many applications have already been received". Applicants must commit to working in Lower Austria in private practice or in the hospitals of the Provincial Health Agency (LGA) for five years after completing their specialist training.
